The
Geovane. Soil Shear Strength Tester
Handheld, portable, easy to use field equipment by Geotechnics.
A 19mm vane blade is screwed in to the base of the Geovane and the vane is
pushed into the soil. Simply rotate the Geovane at a rate of 1 revolution
per minute and take a reading off the face when the soil fails. A pointer
stays in place when failure occurs so all you have to do is look up the reading
from the face on the supplied calibration chart to get your reading in kPa.
The Geovane is 100% New Zealand made from polished billet aluminum and other
top quality materials which is not only good for the local economy but also
maintains lower prices for every one. For years we have been at the mercy of
exchange rates when importing instruments similar to the Geovane. Over the
past two years the drop in exchange rates have made similar devices more and
more expensive. Geotechnics are however still able to offer these other imported
options.
The Geovane should be serviced and calibrated annually. Your local agent is
able to offer a full service and calibration facility.
The Geovane is available as just a torque head or as a complete kit with 19mm
vane blade, spanners and a heavy duty, long lasting canvas carry bag. We also
offer 1m extensions and adapters as well as full service and calibration facilities.
