Training

Nuclear Density Meters, Course option 1

We offer a standard format training course or we can adapt the course to suit your exact requirements. In some cases it is best to not get too involved with the theory but to focus on using the device safely and efficiently in the field. We can change the course structure accordingly to suit your needs. Course candidates receive a 20 page manual that covers everything you need to know at an entry level and a certificate of completion. For more information please contact [email protected].

Nuclear Density Meters, Course option 2

A new addition to our suite of courses that focuses on the ‘core of knowledge’ required by the NRL to be granted a license. This is a very new course for Geotechnics and the NRL and will be available from January 2004. The course will be run in the main centres of NZ and potential candidates will be advised of the dates and venues. The course carries the recognition of the NRL which means that a certificate from this course will satisfy the training requirements as directed by the NRL. For more information please contact [email protected].

On site QA and field practices

This is for any personnel that work in the field and require either initial training or a refresher. We look at a number of areas to suit your needs. This can be the use of field tools such as penetrometers, impact testers, shear vanes etc or we can cover basic soil mechanics or a combination of both. The best way to get the maximum results from this course is to talk to us about your specific requirements. From here we can tailor the course for your application. For more information please contact [email protected].

Instrumentation

This can cover a number of areas such as what instrumentation is required for certain applications, installation, and monitoring of the devices. Once again we are able to structure a custom course that suits you. Geotechnical instrumentation is fast becoming a major component of the NZ civil industry and utilises modern technology which is always changing. For more information please contact [email protected] or [email protected].

NZIHT Compaction Course

For this course please contact [email protected] for course bookings. The course focuses on basic soil mechanics including compaction theories, reasons for compaction, soil classification, moisture content, density, specific gravity and Proctor curves etc. We also look at strength parameters such as CBR and shear strength. We then go into the field to use four types of common field instruments. For the practical part we look at all aspects of the gear including calibration, maintenance, and interpretation of results.

Design your own Course
